App Review of Appigo’s To Do application for managing a great to do list and functioning as a great productivity tool.

PRICE: 10$

Devices: iPhone, iPod Touch , iPad

To Do is a great application for you productivity users out there who really want a GTD (Getting Things Done ) type system integrated into a To Do App. Appigos really made one of the best apps in the market for making a simple to-do list while having a whole set of extras and additional features to make it worth the 10$. Making projects, check lists , normal to do’s are all available in the app while maintaining a great simple to use touch-interface . You can quick to-do’s or more featured packed ones with options like due dates , repeated tasks (monthly bills etc) and many other options like call a contact , email a contact , or visit a website. The application also has the ability to sync with other services like remember the milk and sync across other multiple applications it also has the option to send alerts not only to the phone when something is due but also send emails to an account to warn you of a due or overdue item. To really organize your life and common tasks with the iPhone appigo’s to do app , it really provides you with the tools to do it .

Getting Things Done

“The Art of Stress Free Productivity”

By David Allen

I’ve been an audible member for quite awhile now, audible.com is a library of audio books and full of different categories and authors, David Allen was a reccomended author to me and I listened to his popular book on GTD the ” Getting Things Done” book on how to stay organized, the art of organzing and how to be more productive in life etc.

I’ve finished the book recently and moved on to his second book part of GTD called ” Making Things Work”.

Gettings things done is a great motivational book into getting you to start adapting the system, its full of tips and includes a

PDF file of images of charts etc. The books focus is to get you into the system and even though it sounds simple how to get things done, tips like task lists, the 43 folder system, to-do lists and many other methods that really go a long way and have great little stories with each lesson . More importantly the book shows you how to be more productive in life yet not be stressful and take things one at a time and not be worried about stuff you haven’t done etc.

David Allen’s excert on the site of audible states , the book teaches you :

Apply the “do it, delegate it, defer it, drop it” rule to get your in-box empty.

Reassess goals and stay focused in changing situations.

Overcome feelings of confusion, anxiety, and being overwhelmed.

Feel fine about what you’re not doing.

Credit Audible…

If you a person who wants to be more organized and productive this book has great lessons and helps teaches you how to clear your mind and stay focused on what needs to get done. A great example he uses in the book and at his seminars is “Mind like water” a great lesson implying that you have to be like a pool of water ready to take rocks etc that may ripple and have effect in your life yet you manage & adjust and even out , you have to be ready for anything etc, something david explains way better then i do haha.

After listening to it, it’s a book that you really have to take and listen to over and go through chapters over and review the content as the book teaches you something each time and you can’t just consume it all at one time. If your like me you’ll be urged to buy the 2nd book ” Making it all work” showing you how to apply and make this all work for you get the system easier and funner etc to use. Still i go back at times and listen over to the book from the start and really soak in the content as with audio books you really need to be focused and listening to the story , while the narrator reads and a great plus is that david allen actually narrates his story and does a great job doing it I may add.

All in all I love the book a great read well worth it , really deep and full of stories and examples takes time to understand some things sometimes and takes a second or even 3rd or fourth look/listen to fully learn and understand the chapter.

I’d recommend the book to anyone looking into adapting the GTD system…

Cleaning Your Email Inbox…

Whether it be Outlook, Thunderbird, Eudora or just plain Gmail.com. With GTD (Getting Things Done) and productivity tips and approach being one of my 2009 resolution’s I thought I’d share some tips on Organizing and cleaning your E-mail Inbox.

E-MAIL!

First and foremost , set a day or some time either after reading this post or now to just look at your inbox gmail, hotmail, yahoo whatever and just plain old CLEAN IT OUT!

Start off by deleting junk and then go into your back pages to delete the emails you never check anymore also make sure you don’t delete anything important that you needed from past e-mails I.e-

Software Keys, Product Recipts etc.

After you got the majority of your e-mail cleaned out look into organizing the remaining so it dosen’t pile up again.

LABELING- Gmail along with other email providers or even built in email integrators such as Thunderbird have labeling for certain categories or you can just make your own.

Examples of mine are:

Software/Product Receipts/Keys

Tech-World Applications

SPONSORS/PR EMAILS

and so on.

So just sort out for whats relevant for you.

EMAIL PROVIDERS AND PROGRAMS

If you have multiple emails for multiple things like personal , spam etc that works out great to organize but checking them all is a pain, that’s were integrating them all in one works out.

Here you have 2 solutions-

Using A application like Thunderbird or Outlook -To integrate all your email accounts

MY VIDEO ON SETTING UP THUNDERBIRD= http://wiurl.com/vrba/

Your Other option is FORWARDING- forward simply works by you get an email at for example

test1@gmail.com that email then sends a copy or forwards it to another email like test2@gmail.com

both work great while using labels etc.

KEEPING IT CLEAN

Manage your time when checking your mail set appropiate time for your client to update with messages so it dosen’t distract you. Delete emails that you know are spam or you just don’t need anymore otherwise they PILE UP TRUST ME.

Cycle Process

You have to stick with your new tips and tools by managing each every time you either set lables, clean out your inbox etc. Doing it once won’t help you have to STICK WITH IT!

Hope this helps get your Inbox under control check out these great sites for more tips
