The company launched back in April 2008 was known for selling PC’s that ran apple’s Mac OSX operating system on unauthorized hardware , violating apples EULA in which they state OSX may only be ran on Apple Certified hardware (Macs Only).

A lot of talk went on about how long it would take apple to shut down this small Florida company but months passed as both tried to settle the dispute behind the eyes of the media, as Psystar continued to sell their machines.

The code behind the project was based off the original OSx86 project were they claimed that Psystar had no permission to use their code and even reworked it so that it forbids commercial usage. Psystar even estimated a 70,000 computer sales in the year of 2009 , that was till recently when apple finally shut down the company.

On Tuesday the federal judge ruled Psystar to stop selling the Mac clones and even pay fines reaching up to $2.7 million instead of continuing the rest of the trial in federal court. All operations of the company were immediately hut down including sales,  site etc. Though the company claimed that its Rebel EFI software which allows the installment of OSX on the machines is not apart of the settlement.

A success in apple’s part but this still rages the argument of Hackintoshes and the community wanting to see Apple someday widen the range for OSX by allowing it on other hardware/machines. This will also be end for Psystar for the most part a long run in which took sometime were  a rises the question on what took so long for Apple to shutdown this company but I guess if you want something completely ridden of then it takes time and in the end Apple comes out on top.
