If you’ve never heard of GOG at all since September 2008, now you have. A store that sells great games like finely aged artisanal cheese, you can buy the classics you missed out on for either $5.99 or $9.99, depending on the game. And no matter if you live from Galway to Greece, don’t panic: GOG was started up in Poland, so you had better believe they sell to any country that has Internet access.
And you’ll know you didn’t get a crap game, because each game is selected for being the best games that display what PC gaming is all about, compared to the billions of trash-talking kids on Xbox Live who don’t understand what gaming is all about. I’ve been a member since the private beta in September, and I bought many games such as Fallout, Fallout 2, Descent, Descent 2, Flatout, Redneck Rampage, and Operation Flashpoint, among other great titles. Games are released every week, and you’ll sometimes get a surprise title you didn’t expect, and this week it was Pure Pinball 2 (with the near-naked girls). And you can load it up on any computer, since it has NO DRM AT ALL, and you can torrent to your heart’s content.
So if you’re hanking for something to play between matches of Call of Duty, or you’ve got a barely functional PC, or you’ve built a media center PC that’s not too powerful, then GOG (http://www.gog.com) is definitely worth a look.
